Sempre achei que o termo sobreviver tinha algo de errado, mas não sabia até pouco tempo atrás.
Sobreviver é uma palavra composta por prefixação. Sobre + viver. Sobre é um radical que quer dizer: acima de; Acima da vida, uma vida superior ? Capítulo 2 do Recife Runs

Um sol nada amistoso surge novamente no céu. Neste momento um homem que está deitado no chão se levanta, apanha uma bolsa que estava usando como travesseiro e começa a caminhar. A paisagem ao seu redor tem sido a mesma por dias e mais dias, nenhuma alma viva.
Meio-dia, o homem pára, olha para os céus e contempla espiral negra de abutres em cujo centro está o sol, pensa consigo mesmo:
- Será que valerá a pena?
O homem afasta de si esses pensamentos e senta-se a sombra de um poste, começando a comer o pouco que conseguiu achar pelo caminho. Seu estômago lacerado pela fome quase rejeita a comida que não entra há muito tempo.
Depois disso o homem se levanta, ainda há muito para caminhar, embora esteja muito perto.
Andando pela cidade abandonada ele encontra os mesmos fantasmas que encontrou por todas as outras cidades: abandono, treva, solidão. Os mesmos fantasmas que mataram todas as outras cidades o perseguem como uma praga, como se ele fosse a última presa a ser caçada.
O homem chega ao fim da cidade, então, ele tem a impressão de ter visto alguém, mais um fantasma, como ele está prestes a se tornar, mas não, fora apenas o uivo do vento pelas frestas, arrastando folhas de jornal.
No silêncio o homem pensa:
- O que eu vou fazer se não houver ninguém?
Seu pensamento ecoa por suas entranhas e como um choque seu próprio corpo responde:
- Sobreviver.
Então o homem concorda e volta a caminhar.
A direção? O horizonte.
